Asia-Pacific Network
Initially the idea to make connections and develop an Asia-Pacific network had been discussed as a wish for some of the delegates from within this region. From further discussion there arose the idea of an in-person conference of initiative-carriers, which would also include colleagues in closely related anthroposophical impulses and organizations beyond those directly involved with the Section for Inclusive Social Development.
It was acknowledged that the Asia-Pacific region is incredibly diverse, culturally and linguistically, and couldn’t simply model the idea of building a network on what has formed itself in other regions of the world. It was felt that an initial in-person conference would enable a space to explore developing the network amongst the initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region. However, due to the pandemic this had been unable to take place.
The initiative group continued to meet regularly online on a bi-monthly basis, to share, perceive and meet each other.
At the recent 100-year conference and celebration of Inclusive Social Development the current carrying group came together, inviting others in the network to share an open space and explore the development for this initiative.
With renewed vigour and enthusiasm an agreement was made to focus on formalizing the network and identify the issues and topics of the region. The first agreed focus is to pick up the initial impulse for developing a small regional conference in a country where meeting and visas etc are accessible by all.
The bi-monthly online meetings will continue where the core group, made up of the Delegates of the Council and Country Representatives will pick up this work and carry it into the future.
The enthusiasm is strong and we are excited to develop the Asia-Pacific region into a strong network of Inclusive Social Development .
We enthusiastically encourage you to make contact if you have any enquiries about this initiative.
