An Introduction to Anthroposophic Social Therapy
Sara Sörgärde Siegers Translation from Swedish by Karen Riemann
1st edition 2024
The original edition in Swedish is available as a book on demand. Review by Sonja Zausch: How do you create an introduction to a complex topic? It should be concise and concrete, but at the same time not restrictive and narrowing. Not every action, quality or self-image can be written in the subjunctive, as “is desirable” or formulated as an “attempt”. So Sara Sörgärde Siegers, an experienced employee of a social therapy organization in Sweden, has dared to make a courageous attempt at a concrete description in Swedish, adapted to the German situations in a German translation by Karen Riemann, and thus created an orientation – with a very beautiful title for me – on extensive topics. In my opinion, the book is easy to read and has a clear structure with manageable chapter lengths. The questions for reflection are simple and, in my opinion, the most gratifying approach in the book. For example, after the chapter on biography work: Can you recognize a pattern in your life? Between chapters, the author has designed drawings to illustrate what is written. In summary, I would like to say that it is a coherent attempt and approach, and it raises questions in me as to whether these written texts really generate curiosity and deeper interest in people who want to approach the topic of anthroposophic social therapy. The answers will be provided by the readers – so thank you to Sara and Karen for the offer to talk about it!
