Fundraising Campaign for Step Together in Lebanon
Despite living in an area surrounded by uncertainties and while struggling to make ends meet, our colleagues at Step Together continue to see the light at the end of the tunnel. They continue to offer support to individuals with special needs and their families with all the strength and power they are given.
The economic situation in Lebanon has drastically deteriorated since late 2019 and on August 4th, 2020, people suffered from one of the biggest explosions in history which left 215 people dead and more than 7500 injured and thousands of houses and buildings destroyed or hugely affected. Lebanon is currently in a state of emergency and the situation in the country is still deteriorating due to economic meltdown and currency inflation. Things are very bad; bad to the extent where some families are left with no support at all. Food and medication have become a real struggle, the prices of food and products have increased by at least 5 times. The unemployment rate has increased dramatically to more than 55%. People are fighting over supported food items like sugar and cooking oil. The poverty rate is unimaginable with 52% of the Lebanese population falling below the poverty line. The inflation (at over 157.9%) has been extremely challenging on all families and employees!
By supporting Step Together, you not only support a ‘special person’ with special needs, you support an employee tutoring this special person, and an institution housing all of them.
Even a small donation could help Step Together in Lebanon reach their fundraising goal. And if you can’t make a donation, it would be great if you could share the fundraiser to help spread the word.
