Nordic Association for Curative Education and Social Therapy
Curative education and social therapy in the Nordic region is a broad network of non-profit organizations for children, young people and adults with support needs. The organizations include inclusive living communities, residential communities, day centers and special schools in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland.
Our work is based on anthroposophical ethics and a view of humanity that is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the individual and the challenges of society in a meaningful way.
We organize annual training conferences for employees of the network. In addition, we are particularly proud to organize the biennial inclusive conference
“Nordic Arena for Co-Learning“, which is planned by delegates from the Nordic initiatives.
This conference for co-learning is more than a festival or a congress – it is a movement for inclusion, knowledge exchange and artistic expression. Based on human rights and art as a medium of learning, we are creating a unique community where everyone – regardless of ability – can participate, learn and contribute.
The next „Nordic Arena for Co-Learning“ will take place in Norway in 2026.
One of our biggest challenges today is that increasingly narrow-minded societies are trying to restrict us through bureaucratic regulations. As a result, we have faced considerable resistance to our concerns for a number of years – even though we are in a far better position than many other organizations in the world in a lot of respects.
It is a challenge to get beyond the pioneering stage and to constantly hear that what we are doing is “vague” or “unscientific”. This is a constant battle that requires us to unite and work together globally.
It was very moving for the participants to experience this spirit of solidarity and mutual support during the Section Founding Conference in autumn 2024 in Dornach.
