Start of a New Training in Cuernavaca, Mexico
From the end of July to the beginning of August, the first four-week module of a new training in anthroposophic curative education and social therapy took place in Cuernavaca, about an hour’s drive from Mexico City. Mexico has a very active Waldorf school movement and for many years there has been a lot of interest in anthroposophic curative education. Again and again there were introductory events, which were well attended. The desire for training developed more and more over the years. Now it has been possible to initiate a course lasting several years for teachers, educators, therapists, social workers, psychologists and doctors who want to further their education in anthroposophic curative education and social therapy.
The course is sponsored by GITA – Centro Antroposófico de México, an organization based in Cuernavaca, which has been running courses in Waldorf pedagogy, organizational development, art therapy and general anthroposophy for many years. The new course in curative education and social therapy is made possible by the cooperation of Doris Unger. She is a co-founder of the training organization Cruz del Sur, which is active in several cities in Argentina, and will coordinate and accompany the course on the content side.
Jan Göschel, member of the Council’s Leadership Team, was also present at the launch. In a lecture he spoke to the participants of all parallel courses about the impulse of anthroposophic curative education and social therapy in a time of instability and uncertainty. Over the next few years, in addition to Doris and Jan, other colleagues from the international network will support this initiative. We hope that the strong and in some cases already very experienced group of participants will get the inspiration and means through this course to realize new practical initiatives in the field of inclusive social development in Mexico.
