Camphill Community Trust was invited to offer this presentation as a 2019 Laureate of the UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development.
Education for Sustainable Development asks: How does education need to be transformed, so that we can individually and collectively build the capacities needed to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals articulated by the United Nations. Partnerships, networks and collaboration between grassroots organizations are a key to accomplishing this. The diverse group of partners invited by Camphill Community Trust Botswana to join this presentation provide a real-life model for what this kind of collaboration and networking can look like.

Camphill Community Trust was established in Botswana in 1974 to provide services to people with special needs. It includes Rankoromane School, primary school for 56 children with learning difficulties and related disabilities aged between 5 – 14 years, as well as Motse Wa Badiri Training, which offers a four-year learning program for people with learning difficulties or disabilities who are fourteen years or older and who are unable to enroll in mainstream education.
In 2019, CCT received the UNESCO-Japan Prize for Education for Sustainable Development for Motse Wa Badiri’s Integrated Learning for Living and Work Programme (ILLP).
